New Bathroom

Here is the before, during and after pictures of the downstairs bathroom reno. It was very difficult for me to do as I can not do very much work at a time. The tile floor took me over 5 days to complete. That should have been no more than 1 day to lay the tile and a few hours the next days to grout.

The old, leaky, mildewy bathroom.

Removing the storage cabinets above the washer/dryer.

Toilet removed. Good riddance as it was problematic.

The TOO LARGE vanity removed.

Bye Bye door.

The shower stall. Newly tiled and new 'anti-scald' tap/showerhead.

New 6 litre flush toilet and shower entrance trim.

The new vanity. Much smaller and better suited to the room.

Hot Tub

Here is our new to us hot tub. I built a 10 x 10 deck for it and it is great for relaxing those tight muscles.

Runway Dirt Moving & Grass Seed Prepartion

The runway had the rough dirt work and final levelling done over the weekend. We bought 100 lbs of grass seed. Expensive! To help it out I built my watering system. We have no running water out there. The system includes a 300 gallon tank, a truck and a water spray boom. Total cost to build the boom was $15. Small holes are drilled every 1". Initial tests show good results. It will still be alot of work to water the grass every day or so.

Spring Update

The newly edged flower garden. Starting to grow.

The new BBQ.

The new firewood pallet crates.

The burn/tilled area between the old tree farm and the windrow of pines.

View from the operators seat of the Bobcat tractor.

My newest creation. A sprayer to control weeds.

Rear view of my tractor sprayer. Watch out Dandelions!

The old/dying fruit trees are now gone in the garden.

The new pallet forks for the tractor. I don't know how I did anything without them!

Major Blizzard Hits Us Hard

76 KPH winds and snow equals no work, power outages and huge drifts.

The Caribou Room

The renovation of room number one is complete. Just over one month of work. It is now renamed to the Caribou Room. The rooms are going to be named after Canadian built aircraft. This one is named after the de Havilland Caribou.

All new and repaired drywall was primed to accept new paint.

The room is now painted. Three walls a light brown and one the dark brown accent.

$1600 of new flooring. Also weighed about 2000 lbs.
Sure made the old Dodge a little lower in the back end.

Reno Update

Reno Update: B&B Room #1 is finishing up fast. A lot faster than the pool table room (much smaller size and standard height ceiling). All the drywall repairs are done and walls are ready to paint. The California Knockdown ceiling texture is up in the walk-in closet. Next is to texture the main room. Then prime/paint and new flooring. Lastly to finish up with the new doors. The flooring and doors are on order and should be here this week. Hopefully next weekend will see paint and a start on the flooring.

Drop sheets to protect the walls from ceiling texture.

Finished drywall in the walk-in closet.

B&B Room Renovation

First day of demolition. Removing baseboards, doors and trim.

Adding screws to the sub-floor to remove squeaks.

Pulling down all the bad tape joints.

Adding screws to the drywall. The main reason why the tape joints are failing. In the pursuit of saving $20 in screws the drywaller caused me a lot of work fixing a bad drywall job.

Removed the stiple ceiling for replacement with California Knock Down.

New drywall the the walk-in closet. Easier to put new drywall up versus fixing the old.

The bracket for the wall mounted television. Relocating the power and cable TV outlets so that no cords are dangling down the wall.

Removed the old barely functioning mirror closet door. Reframed for a normal door.
